# How does profiling and identity resolution work?

> See how Stiddle tracks every visitor across channels while staying privacy-conscious.

Stiddle combines first-party tracking, connectors, and IRIS identity resolution to stitch clicks, sessions, and transactions into a single timeline per person.

## Data collection layers

1. **Stiddle Pixel / IRIS tag** – captures device/browser signals, UTM parameters, and on-site events in real time.
2. **Server-side + API events** – Shopify, WooCommerce, Salesforce, and custom APIs send orders, leads, and lifecycle updates.
3. **Ad platform metadata** – synced daily to enrich profiles with campaign, ad set, and creative context.

## Identity graph logic

* **Deterministic matching** – email, phone, and customer IDs instantly link events to existing profiles.
* **Probabilistic hints** – device fingerprint, IP, and behavioral patterns power session stitching even before a person signs in.
* **Confidence tiers** – Stiddle labels each match (strong, medium, low). Only strong matches trigger auto-merges; medium matches stay as hints until confirmed.

## Visitor-to-profile journey

1. Anonymous visitor clicked an ad with UTMs.
2. Pixel creates an anonymous profile with IRIS data.
3. Visitor fills a form—email connects the anonymous timeline to a known contact.
4. Future purchases, emails, and ad clicks land on that same profile, giving you a full journey.

## Privacy & compliance

* Respect **Do Not Track** headers and regional consent rules.
* Store all identifiers in your geographic data region as defined per workspace.
* Allow customers to request deletion; removing a profile also purges fingerprint data.

## How to monitor identity health

* Check **Profiles** for stats on tracked visitors vs. identified profiles.
* Use the **Merge Modal** to ensure matches look accurate.

Need to enrich profiles further? Use the Zapier connector or CSVs with custom attributes—Stiddle adds the data to the profile while maintaining the same identity rules.
